New era of the cashless society?

I just realized I have been meaning to go to the ATM to pick up some real cash since Christmas. I last used real currency when I gifted my niece and nephew their Christmas $$$ gifts. (btw money seems to be the perfect gift for teenagers now a days. I have conceded that I don’t know what cool kids spend money on and cash gives them the freedom to buy whatever they want… )

Anyways, unbeknownst to me, the covid times seems to have ushered in the era of the cashless society… A big wow to this new Virtual Cash era! It sneaked up on me just like the other eras of our times…

  • Era of the Virtual Friends (Facebook, Siri, Ok Google, etc etc)
  • Era of the Virtual Office (I work from home)
  • Era of the Virtual Concerts (I have seen many ads.. guess it is somehow different from watching YouTube videos free as these require a ticket.)- Era of Virtual Social events
  • Era of Virtual dining…
  • Era of Virtual physical trainers
  • Era of Virtual dates… (yes, it’s a thing)

Scary to think where this is going… I hear virtual therapists and AI friends are around the corner… with Virtual everything working out so much better than the cumbersome real world…

I wonder what the role of real people in our lives will be in the near future…

Happy first day of Spring btw!
The gardener in me is awaiting warmer weather to start planting… (Btw. The picture is of the flowers in bloom in front of my house. Such a wonderful visual treat every year.)
